Family Leadership Initiative

The Urban Church Leadership Center (UCLC) supports congregations and church leaders who want to serve families. Since 2011, the Family Leadership Initiative (FLI) has equipped churches to strengthen families. This foundational pillar of the UCLC provides training, coaching, and learning resources to churches that offer family ministry programming. Leaders are given tools for leading and investing in the healthy growth of families within their church and the surrounding community. FLI has developed a robust library of 43 biblically-based family ministry curriculum units, which are available in English and Spanish on the Congregational Resources page.

FLI Mission

The Family Leadership Initiative is a biblically based family ministry model that includes training, coaching, and learning resources for churches in our community that build healthy families.

Who We Serve

FLI supports churches in Greater Grand Rapids that want to grow their capacity to serve families. Churches that receive an FLI grant administer programming that includes quality family time, family meals, learning opportunities for parents and children, parenting support, worship, and overall faith formation.

Congregational Resources

FLI has created robust and growing Congregational Resources for local churches and church leaders. Visit the Congregational Resources page to access training for FLI church leaders, curriculum for FLI programming, and other video, image, and PDF materials.
